OCS Governors Coalition Reacts to Trump Administration’s Offshore Oil and Gas Plan Development

JACKSON, Miss. – “The Outer Continental Shelf Governors Coalition (OCSGC) is excited to work with the Trump Administration and Secretary Doug Burgum to ensure that this new leasing program benefits offshore communities and delivers safe and sustainable energy development for all Americans,” said OCSGC Chairman and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves. From Alaska to the Gulf of America coast, these leasing programs provide robust support for local job markets, economies, and coastal restoration projects. For our states to see this sustained revenue ensures that we can continue benefitting the communities that work hard to deliver affordable and reliable energy to the rest of the country.”

Established in 2011, the OCSGC is a nonpartisan coalition of Governors, whose states are engaged in offshore energy production. Members include Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The OCSGC works to improve communication between federal and state officials on OCS issues; facilitate better understanding of energy resources and the impact those energy resources have on local, state, and federal revenues; and develop enhanced management and stewardship of coastal resources related to coastal and ocean activities.
