We have been told by city officials that the Mayor of Jackson is planning to functionally end the city’s cooperation with the Unified Command Structure—the team that has been keeping Jackson water stable—by refusing to participate in the process of selecting a water operator alongside federal and state water experts as the Biden Administration repeatedly asked to be done.

They will strengthen infrastructure benefitting the economy in the Gulf Coast Region. The projects were initially approved by Governor Reeves based on recommendations made to him by the Governor’s Gulf Coast Advisory Committee in continued response to recovery from the BP Oil Spill.

Governor Tate Reeves announced in a press conference that clean water had been restored to the City of Jackson. Thus, the boil water advisory for the City of Jackson and surrounding areas can now be lifted.
