Governor Tate Reeves Announces Commitment to Stand with Mississippi Women

JACKSON, Miss. – Following a meeting with Independent Women’s Voice (IWV) to discuss model legislation developed to reinforce the definition of sex-based words used in Mississippi law and to help protect women-only spaces from legal attack, Governor Tate Reeves announced his commitment to stand with Mississippi women. He made the announcement alongside Riley Gaines and Paula Scanlan who have gained national recognition and acclaim for their efforts to protect women’s sports and rights.

FEMA Approves Twelve Additional Counties for Public Assistance for June 14-19 Severe Weather and Tornadoes

JACKSON, Miss. – Governor Reeves today announced that FEMA approved Mississippi’s request for additional counties to receive public assistance following June tornadoes and severe weather (DR-4727-MS). Throughout the week of June 14-19, 2023, Mississippi experienced a record-setting 18 tornadoes (19 total for the month of June). With the additional counties, a total of 28 counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians are now eligible to apply for federal public assistance.
